I spent my childhood adventuring on the land surrounding my parent’s small farm. Their house is positioned directly next to preserved land and farms that dated back to the 1600-1700s. The farms next door were still in full operation. I spent a lot of time with one elderly neighbor, Mr. Beener. He taught me how to draw, cook, harvest, forage, make money, etc. Some vivid memories I have include collecting and roasting chestnuts, gathering dandelions and making dandelion soup, picking produce in his garden, and setting up a farm stand. He taught me how to see the world in a magical way and understand the potential in earth’s simple pleasures.
