I can still remember opening the front door at my parent’s house to a huge crate of fresh grapefruit with a snow-covered backdrop. My grandparents always headed south, to Florida, for the winter. Their way of showing that they were still thinking of us was to ship boxes of fresh citrus fruit. To this day grapefruit is my favorite smelling citrus fruit. I eat them for the aroma. I find them beautiful—both in color and design. They also give me vivid memories of my childhood, my grandparents, and eating breakfast with my mom.
